Terms of Sale

We provide a diverse selection of used parts. Although the majority of transactions proceed without issues, there are occasions when misunderstandings may arise concerning the scope of delivery, shipping claims, and condition. To minimize confusion and ensure you receive the correct parts on your first attempt, we have implemented these terms of sale to facilitate a smooth process.

Condition

We specialize in used parts, which may exhibit signs of previous use. Body components such as bumpers, doors, bonnets, and fenders may have scratches, dents, paint fading, or minor repairable cracks. These parts are sold under the assumption that they will be prepped and painted prior to installation on your vehicle.

Headlights and tail lights may have scuffs, stone chips, polished lenses, or repaired mounting points. While the lights provided are functional, any included bulbs, that can be replaced seperately, may require replacement if they are not operational.

Interior elements, including seats, steering wheels, door handles, and other touchpoints, may show signs of wear or fading. Seats may have creased leather or scratch marks from regular entry and exit. Any noticeable rips or tears will be communicated; however, normal wear is expected.

Mechanical parts may exhibit some corrosion, which can manifest differently depending on the material. Surface rust on soft steel is common and typically does not compromise the integrity of the part. Corrosion on aluminum blocks and gearboxes often appears as white spots, which is regarded as normal. We will not sell parts with significant corrosion that affects structural integrity unless discussed prior to sale.

Wheels may have curb marks. We can generally provide photographs to clarify what constitutes minor or heavy damage, as perceptions can vary. We do not send cracked or bent wheels unless this has been previously agreed upon. Generally, we do not offer tyres for sale, and if they are included with the wheels, we cannot guarantee their condition or that they are free of defects.

Parts may have undergone repairs but will always be functional and fit for their intended purpose. While the majority of parts are genuine manufacturer items, some may be aftermarket. If the authenticity of a part is a concern, please inform us, and will verify whether it is genuine.

Warranties

Used parts do not come with ongoing warranties. We thoroughly test each part before sale and guarantee their functionality at the time of purchase. If a part is found to be faulty upon receipt, we will replace it upon the return of the defective item. Please note that there are exclusions; refer to the Returns and Refunds section below for more details.

Startup Guarantee

This applies to all engines sold through us. Unless discussed prior to sale, there is no ongoing warranty after the engine has started up, but we do guarantee the engine supplied is good upon install. This means that we guarantee the internals are in good condition, the engine has compression and runs smoothly upon starting it. This covers you for anything that cannot be seen upon receipt of the engine. We require the engine to be installed by a reputable workshop, all the proper manufacturer specificied installation processes to have been followed, oils and gaskets to have been replaced with new, and oil pressure to have been primed before start. Any visible defects upon receipt of the engine, after inspection, must be attended to. No claims can be made in regards to any bolt on parts, including oil and coolant pumps, timing chains including guides and tensioners, improper tuning, damage caused by improper installation or lack of proper cooling or lubrication. No Claims will be accepted for labour costs, only the supplied part(s) can be part of a claim.

Returns and Refunds

Returns are only accepted if a part has turned up faulty, or if we sent a part other than what was asked for.

We will not refund if you asked for the wrong part, had a change of mind or situation, or needed a different variant on the part. It is your responsibility to ask for the correct part. We will ask you for part numbers if we are unsure of correct fitment to help you order the correct part, but essentially it is your responsibility to ask for the right parts.

Electronic parts can never be returned or exchanged, because of the nature of failures. We will test items before shipping them out.

We will look at exchanging parts for other parts, but  you will be liable for all shipping expenses.

In case of a successful claim, the item needs to be returned to us at your cost, and we will refund the agreed amount when we complete our investigation.

In the case of approved exchange, we will send the new part(s) once the returned items have been received back, inspected, and shipping cost has been paid for.

Scope of Delivery

When you buy parts through Trademe, they come as they are pictured, unless the description specifies that certain items in the photos are excluded. This can vary per item, but if there is no mention of excluded parts, the scope of delivery is as per the images. Trademe listings for $1 show the car and are intended for you to request parts off the car in the listing. You cannot buy the car for $1. If you use the buy now option for $1, we can supply you a screw of our choosing, or we can refund you.

When enquiring through the Trademe Q&A, or directly through this website/email, you will need to be specific to mention the parts needed. We generally sell parts the same way they are being sold new through a dealership. This means that if you ask for a steering wheel, the airbag isn't included, unless you specify you also need the airbag. Another example are doors; we price them up as bare doors, but if you require the glass/ electronics, please be specific, so no misunderstandings arise upon receipt of your parts. If parts show up missing a part that you needed, then you will need to purchase that separately. We reserve the right to determine the specific components included in any parts supply or order, unless specific requirements were agreed upon prior to purchase.

Engines are priced up as long blocks, unless specified otherwise. A long block engine consists of the cylinder head and short block. this means that all components that are bolted onto this are removed before sale. This includes, but is not limited to: turbo, intake manifold, AC Compressor, alternator, fuel pump, water pump, lines, hoses, pulleys, sumps, rocker covers, oil coolers, engine mounts, coil packs, wiring loom etc. We can supply engines complete at added cost, but this will need to be specified and agreed to prior to purchase.

Gearboxes come with internal electronics, but without clutch pack/torque converter, differential or transfer case.

Shipping

We can arrange shipping for all parts, except glass, to anywhere in New Zealand. We have various carriers we use for different parts. We may require up to 3 working days before courier pickup. Part of this is that we are located rurally, and pickup days and times can vary. If there is urgency, we can ship overnight for smaller items, so please let us know. The quoted shipping prices are subject to change if the carrier changes their pricing.

Carriers are not taking liability for damaged or lost used car parts any longer. This means we cannot process any claims regarding lost or damaged parts. We have a very high success rate when it comes to deliveries arriving in good condition, but if you are not prepared to take the risk, either collect the item from our yard, take out insurance, or make arrangements for pickup by a courier of your choosing. We can help dropping the parts off locally.
